Applying for a care level – well prepared for the right result
Nearly all benefits depend on the care level (Pflegegrad). I help you with the application and prepare you specifically for the assessment, so that the needs you really have become visible – for a first application just as for an upgrade to a higher care level.

The five care levels
Since 2017, care needs have been assessed using a points system with five care levels. What counts is not only physical ability but also cognition, behaviour and the degree of independence – in six modules. This is often where needs are overlooked.
Where I come in
- Submitting the first application correctly and justifying it clearly
- Keeping a care diary that reflects everyday life realistically
- Targeted preparation for the appointment with the Medical Service (MD, Medizinischer Dienst) or Medicproof
- Upgrade to a higher care level if your needs have increased
- Explaining the assessment report and the decision notice (Bescheid) in plain terms
Why preparation makes such a difference
The assessment is a snapshot. Anyone who “puts on a brave face” on that day risks being given a care level that is too low. I help you describe your actual need for help honestly and completely – without exaggerating or playing it down.
If the decision notice does not fit
A care level that is too low is not the end of the road: you can lodge a formal objection (Widerspruch) against the decision notice within one month. I go through the assessment report and the decision notice with you and help document the care situation clearly. Social welfare associations (Sozialverbände) or lawyers specialising in social law take care of the legal review and representation – I show you where you can turn.
Applying for a care level – well prepared for the right result – your questions
As a rule, the long-term care insurance fund should decide within 25 working days. I help you submit the application so that the process is quick and correct.
It can be worthwhile, because many decisions come out lower than the actual need. We go through the assessment report together. The legal review and representation are handled by social welfare associations or specialist lawyers – I support you with the preparation.
Benefits are granted from the month in which you apply – so it is important to submit the application early and correctly.
The first step can be easy.
